Our Committees
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Guides the Student Council to fulfill its mission of enriching medical education and student life.
The Executive Committee oversees all council activities, represents student interests in administrative and academic matters, manages the budget, and fosters a supportive community. They advocate for student needs, organize key events like MedProm, and promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring the council’s goals are achieved through collaboration and leadership.
Finance and Merchandise
Oversees the financial management of the student council and its affiliated clubs and organizations.
This committee designs and distributes College of Medicine apparel and merchandise for students, staff, and alumni, while also coordinating and managing funding streams for student groups, ensuring financial support for a wide range of activities and initiatives.
Outreach & Events
Organizes events and outreach programs to foster community and engagement among students.
Plans local trips, social events, and the annual MedProm for all medical students. Some examples of such events include canoeing or skiing in and around central Ohio.
This committee also maintains Student Council social media pages and facilitates outreach and communication within the College of Medicine, University, and greater-Columbus community.
Diversity & Inclusion
Promotes diversity and inclusivity within the student body, organizations, and educational experiences.
Collaborates with other OSUCOM Student Organizations, the Dean of Student Life, the Chief Diversity Officer of OSUWMC, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to center the needs of Black, Indigenous, Hispanic/Latinx, and LGBTQ+ students. Host events and advocate on College-wide committees related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Student Affairs
Enhances student life outside of the academic realm, focusing on the overall well-being and engagement of the student body.
This committee also works to curate precious memories and craft a timeless keepsake for our students. This endeavor is made possible through the financial support from advertisements from local businesses and funded memory pages from graduate’s families, ensuring that the yearbook is offered to our graduates at no cost during the Hooding Ceremony.
Maintains and improves Student Council-run facilities within the COM including the medical student canteen, fitness room, student lounge, wellness space, and study spaces. Attend meetings with Health Sciences Library staff and provide student feedback.
