Parking

While over half of first-year medical students walk or bike to school, a large percentage of the class drives to campus. The  remainder carpool, take a Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus, or ride their apartment complex’s bus (this applies to the University Village Apartments).

OSU Parking Passes & Lots

Students still have the option of purchasing university parking passes, though parking pass availability is quite limited. Before purchasing a parking permit, students are encouraged to do their research to figure out what will work best for their particular circumstances. Additional information about parking and permit prices can be found at: http://osu.campusparc.com/home/permits

Students may purchase parking passes online or at the CampusParc Office, located in Gateway. (http://osu.campusparc.com/) Please note that if you do not purchase a pass prior to orientation, you will not be able to park in a garage until you have your pass.  You will need to set up your OSU username before you can purchase a permit online, and permit purchases aren’t available until mid-late June.

Columbus Parking Passes & Street Parking

Many medical students use UDC or UDA passes purchased from peers. Information about these pass zones is here: https://www.columbus.gov/publicservice/parking/university-district-parking-plan/

COTA Buses

Students can ride COTA free just by showing a BuckID (see Miscellaneous section for info). The  COTA  routes  to  OSU  can  be    found  at: http://www.cota.com/welcomestudents.aspx

Bicycles

There are racks outside the medical school buildings for students to lock up their bikes. Rec Sports has a low-cost Bike Hub (Buckeye Bike Hub) where you can purchase bike locks, bicycle parts, and supplies. The bike repair shop repairs bikes by appointment only. Users can bring their bike to the Hub for a preliminary quote at any time and Hub staff will schedule a dedicated service time for repair. Stands and tools are available for your use just outside of the hub to repair bikes as needed for free.

Lyft Ride Smart at Ohio State

Lyft Ride Smart at Ohio State offers eligible students discounted rides, inside the university-designated service area (opens in a new window), and has expanded service to the Short North area along High Street. Service runs from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Prices may be impacted by distance, traffic, time of day, special events and prime time surcharges.

Info on how to sign up is here: https://ttm.osu.edu/ride-smart
